Ordinary People

The movie was shared by one of my friends. The year of release - 1980 - was part of the file name and that is what attracted me - there has to be a reason that an old movie such as this one movie was being shared. A family drama, Ordinary People is the story of a small family and how the members and the relationships between each member is affected by the death of the elder son. How the tensions reach a crescendo and how they smoothen out - both are depicted beautifully.

One facet of the movie also depicts the wariness of families towards psychiatrists. How people hesitate before consulting a psychiatrist, lest they be branded a lunatic.
